A Classic Battenberg Cake Recipe

This is one of my favourite as the love marzipan and with it covering two different checked layers of cake it makes it even more of an treat .. this wonderful battenberg cake is great for an afternoon tea party on a decorative pretty pate just ready to be cut into for that first slice … you just have to have it with a with cup of tea … that is what afternoon tea parties are all about ..

Here below is a list of ingredients you need to make this cake and the video tutorial

SERVES 10 TAKES ABOUT 40 MINUTES TO MAKE + 25-30 MINUTES TO BAKE
* 200g unsalted butter, softened
* 200g caster sugar
* 2 tsp vanilla extract
* 4 Co-operative British free range eggs
* 200g self raising flour
* 2 tsp baking powder
* Pink food colouring
* 2-3 tbsp icing sugar
* 500g yellow marzipan
* 4 tbsp jam, eg apricot jam

when it comes to the eggs you can use any brand
