These soft, crisp cotton candy meringues will melt in your mouth. A great dessert for any party or dinner with friends or family. The ingredients for this recipe are quite simple; you probably already have most of them in your kitchen. Yield about 24 delicious meringues, enough if you have a small family. But if you are planning a party, you better make more.
I loved cotton candy when I was a kid, especially when there is a county fair, I could not wait to go on the rides and of course, the cotton candies. I want to make something special for my kids and hopefully create some memories with it.
My kids love peanut butter, and when I smear it on the meringues, they loved it. I know it’s a bit weird, but that’s the thing; try to incorporate something that your kids like and create your own little twist for this recipe.
Ingredients for Cotton Candy Meringues
3 egg whites
½ cup cotton candy spinning sugar Cherry flavor*
¼ cup granulated sugar
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 pkg Duncan Hines frosting creations in cotton candy
How to Make Cotton Candy Meringues
First, preheat your oven to 350F. Using the bowl of an electric mixer, place the egg whites and both sugars. Place mixing bowl over a pot of simmering water and constantly whisk until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has combined. Remove the bowl from the heat and then attach it to your mixer.
Add in the cream of tartar and the Cotton Candy packet and on high speed, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Spoon the meringue into a piping bag. Use a star tip and pipe the meringues onto parchment or silicone-lined baking sheets — Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Once done, let the meringues cool off in the oven for a bit. Serve and enjoy.
*Note: Using the cotton candy spinning sugar will intensify the cotton candy flavoring and provides a deeper color. Still, you can use white sugar entirely if you can’t find the spinning sugar.
