Star fruit are a wonderful fruit also known as carambola, it has that delightful star shape once cut with sweet and sour flavour, which makes it ideal for this upside down cake as the combination of the fruit with the sweetness of the sponge is amazing
When I came across this recipe it was the star fruit on the top of the sponge that caught my eye as this dessert recipe is certainly a crowd pleaser , you just want to have a slice as it looks so yummy with the caramelised star fruit sat on the moist soft sponge… so inviting
