We took the red velvet cake we love and gave it a creamy twist. Don’t let the red color fool you: The flavor is all chocolate.

 

  • Makes: 20 servings
  • Prep 45 mins
  • Chill 4 hrs
  • Cool 1 hr
  • Bake 1 hr

 

ingredients

  • 1 pound milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 9 – ounce package chocolate wafer cookies (40 to 45 cookies)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 4 8 – ounce packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 8 – ounce carton dairy sour cream
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1 – ounce bottle red food coloring (2 Tbsp.)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • Chocolate leaves (optional)

  • Bake and chill up to 24 hours. Garnish just before serving.
