A really traditional cake is this madeira cake that just goes so well with a cup of tea, what I love about it is it’s simplicity, a plain cake with that hint of lemon.. so wonderful
This cake is traditional English and got it’s name in the 18th or 19th century as it was eaten whilst sipping fortified wine that is how it got it’s name not from where people are to believe it came from Madeira , this cake has a firm yet light texture which is slightly rich
