When it comes to afternoon tea there is nothing like having a cake that you can slice into and favour that moment of the first slice , well this cake it one of those cakes that just has that appeal with the moist sponge and the chocolate and strawberry combination oh what joy x
Here listed below is a list of the ingredients you will need to make this cake and the video to follow
Ingredients:
1 and 1/2 cups self raising flour
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons Greek yogurt
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup chocolate chips
400g strawberries
In a mixing bowl place the sugar , butter and Greek yogurt .. either using a mixer or by hand beat until light and fluffy
One light and fluffy then add one egg and beat for 1 min, add the vanilla extract and mix again
Once mixed add the flour slowly a small amount at a time once all the flour has been add and you have a soft mixture add the chocolate chips keep a small amount back for the top
Once the chocolate chips have been incorporated place the mixture in a 8 inch (20cm) lined greased spring formed pan
Smooth the mixture out and then place the half strawberries on the top of the mixture and sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips over the strawberries
Now place the cake in a pre heated oven 180°C or 350°F for 1 hour , the cake should spring back once cooked or place a cocktail stick in the middle and it should come out clean when cooked
Let the cake cool then sprinkle some powered sugar over it for decoration
