When I came across this recipe for shoo fly pie I was really intrigued about it as I have never heard of it but it is a popular recipe to make, so I had to read up about it to find out what it is and what makes it so popular
The shoo fly pie is a is a molasses sweet sticky pie that has a wonderful name because flies are attracted to it because of the stickiness about it
Here below is an excerpt about the pie from the wikipedia.org website
Shoo fly pie (or shoo-fly pie) is a molasses pie considered traditional among the Pennsylvania Dutch.
The pie may get its name because the sweet molasses odor attracts flies that must be “shooed” away.
The shoo fly pie’s origins may come from the treacle tart with the primary difference being the use of molasses rather than golden syrup.
