4 whole eggs
1 egg yolk
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups milk
2 1/2 cups whipping cream
1 tablespoon vanilla
7 large (5 1/2×4 1/2 inches) croissants, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces (10 cups)
1 cup dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup dried cherries

Cherry Sauce

1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1 bag (10 oz) frozen dark sweet cherries
