Sometimes simple really is better. Let me tell you this cake is a perfect example of that! If you’re a regular reader to this blog, you know I’m generally a huge, huge, huge fan of over-the-top decadent desserts. You know the kind I’m talking about, desserts that are rich and just possibly a wee bit tooth achingly sweet. I don’t go for simple desserts nearly as often as I go for the decadent ones. But with every rule there are always exceptions. This cake is one of those delicious exceptions.
I really love this simple cake. It’s wonderful!!! No frosting, no filling, just delicious, lovely old fashioned yummy cake, a bit of perfect summer fruit and a little sweet crunch on the top. That’s why it fits into the exception category. It’s perfect in its yummy simplicity. This reminds me of something my Grandma would have made. She served tea every day and this would have been perfect to enjoy with a pot of her soul soothing freshly brewed tea.
