National Mocha Day
September 29 is the favorite day of the year for many coffee maniacs in the United States because two holidays dedicated to coffee are celebrated on this day. They are International Coffee Day and National Mocha Day.
Caffè mocha, also known as mocaccino, is an American variant of a caffè latte. It is a coffee beverage based on espresso and steamed milk which contains chocolate. Typically sweetened cocoa powder is added, but some variations contain chocolate syrup, dark or milk chocolate. Sometimes caffè mocha is referred to as hot chocolate with espresso added.
Caffè mocha can be served either with steamed-milk foam or whipped cream on top. Sometimes it is dusted with cocoa powder or cinnamon and topped with mini marshmallows.
This beverage was so named after the town of Mocha in Yemen which is famous for having been the major coffee marketplace for about 300 years. The Mocha coffee bean has a distinct flavor and a notably chocolate taste. Hence the term “mocha” was extended to mean any coffee with chocolate taste.
To celebrate the National Mocha Day, go out to your favorite coffee shop and indulge yourself with a cup of delicious caffè mocha. You can also have any other coffee drink to honor International Coffee Day as well.
