Buttermilk adds fluffiness to baked goods, but when a recipe calls for one, and you don’t have it on your pantry items, here are some quick Buttermilk Substitute.
For every one cup of milk, you can add either one tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar. Slightly stir and leave for 5-10 minutes so that milk will thicken and curdle. Use it as regular buttermilk for your recipe.
You can also try 1 and 3/4 teaspoon of cream of tartar. Though I did not include it on the list as I don’t usually have it too on my pantry.
Enjoy baking!
