A Great Recipe For This Floured Cob

Flour , Yeast , Elbow Grease and Patience

I had a bread fever the other day because of my new kitchen and I found this amazing cob recipe that requires no loaf pan just a baking sheet so I just had to make it … and believe me it was a total hit with everyone so brought bread is a thing of the past … home-bread all the way

 

Floured Cob

 

Makes 1 loaf

Prep time 2 hours 30 minutes .. cooking time 40 minutes

Ingredients

400g/ 140z/2 2/3 cups strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting

1/2 tsp easy blend dried yeast

1 tbsp cater ( superfine) sugar

I tsp fine sea salt

I tbsp olive oil

 

Method

  1. Mix together the flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl , stir the oil into 280ml/9fl 0z /1 cup of warm water then stir it into the dry ingredients
  2. Knead the mixture on a lightly oiled surface for 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Leave the dough to rest in the bowl covered with oiled plastic wrap( cling film)for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size
  3. Shape he dough into a round cob loaf and transfer to a greased baking sheet, then cover again with oiled plastic wrap ( cling film) and leave to prove until doubled in size
  4. preheat the oven to 220°C( 200°C fan) 425F/gas 7
  5. Dust the loaf with flour. Transfer the tray to the top shelf of the oven bake for 40 minutes or until the loaf sounds hollow when you tap it underneath.Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool completely before serving
