INGREDIENTS:

For the dough:
3-1/3 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup of sugar
4 Tbsp of butter, melted
1 cup of whole milk, warm
2-1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 package)
1 tsp of salt
1 large egg
1 tsp of vanilla extract

For the custard:
1 cup whole milk
1/4 cup of sugar
2 large egg yolks
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

For the chocolate glaze:
1 cups powdered sugar
3 Tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
Enough milk to make a glaze
1 tsp vanilla extract

 

 

RECIPE IN GRAMS!!!

Dough:
463 grams plain flour
50 grams white sugar
2-1/4 teaspoon dry active dry yeast
1 tsp of salt
57 grams of butter, melted
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
240 ml whole milk

240 ml whole milk
2 egg yolks
50 grams white sugar
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
20 grams cornflour/cornstarch

Chocolate glaze:
160 gram icing sugar/powdered sugar
3 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Enough milk to make a glaze

A doughnut or donut is a type of fried dough pastry. Doughnuts are typically made from flour batter and deep-fried. Doughnuts are believed to have been brought to the United States by Dutch settlers around the 19th century. The earliest known usage of the term “doughnut” refers to 1808 and the first printed use of the word “donut” refers to 1900.

There are two most common types of doughnuts: ring doughnuts and filled doughnuts. Filled doughnuts are flattened spheres injected with cream, fruit preserves, custard, etc. Cream is one of the most popular doughnut fillings.

Doughnuts can be filled with different kinds of cream such as vanilla cream, chocolate cream, lemon cream, ganache etc. Boston cream doughnut is probably the most famous variation of filled doughnut. It is filled with vanilla custard and glazed with chocolate icing. It was chosen as the official doughnut of Massachusetts in 2003.
